This was written by one of my Kids who just graduated. Thanks Derek for all your kind words.
Just imagine being in a car with you in the driver’s seat but not being in control of the car. It stops at the end of the road with the words “Dead End”.
For four and a half years, I was in that car. I call those years of my life the Dark Ages. Members of my family were addicted to alcohol, and I had my own personal addictions. “I was constantly teased, harassed and felt like an outsider wherever I went. My involvement with an Ouija board and interest in the occult was filling my mind with horrible things.
I knew I had hit rock bottom when I saw something. I can’t tell you what it was but it scared me so I told the experience to our school psychologist and she recommended that I talk to Scott Kruse from Campus Life.
The ambulance at the car crash of my life was Youth for Christ with Scott Kruse playing the leading doctor. Now I have the Lord and Scott there to patch those bruises. I’ve been able to face anything and everything with my first aid kit—faith. I have faith in Jesus Christ. I am grateful there are people ready to help pick someone up in a crisis. I know, because they did it for me. I pray that they can reach out to many more teenagers just like they did me
