Fear God! But Why? He will always forgive.

I am doing a major study on the book of proverbs. It may take me two years but I think that it is going to be really fun. My goal is to read through the book of proverbs and 4 commentaries at the same time. And I have some great commentaries. 

The Book of Proverbs, 2 Volumes A thousand pages just on Proverbs. Rock on!

which includes the Biblical Illustrator 56 volumes  A compilation of great preachers  perspectives on the bible over the ages. The First big question I really want to get my arms around  is if God will always forgive my sin, throw it as far  as the east is from the west, cast it  into the sea of forgetfulness, then why should I fear him. This has a major impact on my life and Study because

• The Fear of God is the begining of Wisdom Prov 1:7, 9:10
• Jesus said Matthew 10:28
  “Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

So both Solomon and Jesus were speaking to believers and both say that fearing God is important. A study of the Greek and Hebrew do not water it down. The definition has words like terror and dread. 

I don't thinks most Christians fear God at all. Why should we? But we must. I am taking this question on and will be doing some sermons and podcasts. God bless you!

PS This is all part of what I have been praying for. I want the Lord to truly build me into a preacher. Lord please let sermons to bubble out of me as a result of my in depth Bible Study not because I have to preach. I want to take an honest expository approach to Your word and how I present it.
