A Great Night In Detention Last Night

Last night was a great night in the detention center. One of the groups started asking deep questions about whether people commit suicide go to hell and what the unforgiveable sin is. I warned them that we were talking deep doctrine but they were leaning forward and eager to hear what I had to say.

I told them that scripture never says if you commit suicide you automatically go to hell. No one goes to hell because they commit suicide; you go to hell when you die without having received the saving power of Jesus’ forgiveness. Can you be saved and commit suicide? I am glad our God can righteously judge the heart of a person and I don’t have to, in other words it is not a blanket thing, God looks at each person and the condition of their heart. I don’t have all the answers but I trust my Heavenly Father.

What is the unforgiveable sin of blaspheming the Holy Spirit that Jesus talks about? It is rejecting Jesus. The first work of the Holy Spirit in your life is to draw you to Christ. If you reject that draw and reject the salvation Jesus provided for you, your sin remains. It is unforgiveable to not receive forgiveness for your sin. If you have a fatal sickness (sin) and you reject the cure (Christ’s forgiveness) you are condemned to the consequences of that fatal sickness. I hope they got it.

Please keep praying for the kid whose drugs got flushed down the toilet. He was in church on Sunday and has a long way to go but I think he is pointed in the right direction.
